how to increase book sales with cover title

I have just finished a book I got from amazon on a friend's advice. My conclusion was that the writer has every reason to be proud of his write up, BUT!!! yeah! there is a but.

I have seen the book, a couple of times and am not in any way fascinated to read it, however, since a friend whose judgement I trust recommended it more than once, I decided to give it a try. By the virtual of my passion for creative writings, I read a lot of books, however, since I proclaim to be a good manager of time, I try to pick books that are worth reading ( I understand the efforts that goes into book making, and it is a shame to state here that not all books are worth reading).

Like every other reader, the chances of flipping through the pages of a book in store is dependent upon how much curiosity I have to find out what the intentions of the writers were, and often times books get my attention through the aesthetic graphics on it cover, but more than often is the BOOK TITLE!!!

Most writers kill the chances of getting their book to interest the right audience, even from the word GO. This mistake is often done ever before the writer decide to put pen to paper to start scripting the book. This is because as a practice most writers had already named their book even before writing. When the naming is wrong, so goes every other thing about, most especially its sales and public acceptability.
A poor book titling means a poor book out put. You must not neglect the relevance of giving your book the right title.
There are no specific rule or guideline to follow when writing the ideas for the title of your book, However, there are a few personal rules i adhere to which helps me to create stunning TITLES

Originality: this is my first point of call. i would make sure that my title is 100% my idea, or at least an idea never used before. The rapper 50 cent once produced a movie with its title same as that of the legendary African novelist, +Chinua Achebe 's +Things Fall Apart Apart from the legal tussle that ensued as a result of the infringement, the movie did not achieve its a class status, because many a people thought they already know what the movie theme is, as such no curiosity to find out by getting the movie . Same is applicable to your book title. you can not compromise it global uniqueness.

Curiosity kills the cat they say, but i will say, curiosity sells the book. Your title must create an anxiety to read in the viewer. On this lane, you need to follow your gut and do not be scared of controversy. In fact, it could turn out to be the right publicity you need.

An example: wayward virgin by +joe adu you might want to ask question, what is the rationale. How can a virgin be wayward? the only way to find out why and how is to get the book.It is that very simple and you are already a winner on this.

If your book is non-fiction, consider a subtitle to clarify your clever main title. Readers of non-fiction want to know up-front what they’re going to get from your book. Before it becomes a nationally-known best-seller, a vague title like What Color is Your Parachute? needs a descriptive subtitle (A Practical Manual for Job-Hunters and Career-Changers) to appeal to the job-hunters who might need the help this book can provide.
The combination of title and subtitle of Deborah Frye and Tracy Mercier’s Our Father Who Aren’t In Heaven: A True Story of a Career Criminal, does a great job of telling the reader the subject and tone of the book. (Don’t worry; if you’re using Our cover design services, we can handle a subtitle, a sub-subtitle and all the authors, illustrators, editors and contributors you want to include on the cover.

I would not have done the justice to this subject matter if I fail to tell you that, every thing about your book should be as important as your integrity. How does this become important with book titling? Avoid a case of false titling like a plague . if your title gives a totally wrong impression apart from the ideas contained in your book, then you lost the market not just a buyer.  Must author enjoy re-purchase by folks who had already had a book from them... that is the secret to the legendary!!!

Your comments and criticism are welcomed
